Welcome to a brand new season of the Her Spirit Podcast hosted by Her Spirit Co-Founders Holly Woodford and Mel Berry and powered by Activ.AI
Her Spirit 50:50 What Is Possible is the podcast that doesn’t hold back. We’re here to expose the hard truths and tackle the global women’s health gap head-on!
We’re talking to the movers and shakers in health, tech, business, politics, and sport to ask:
- Why is the gender gap stealing women’s health and well-being?
- Why are women’s health, sports, and physical activity always left out of the funding conversation?
- And most importantly, what could this world achieve if women finally got their fair share?
Together, we’re tearing down barriers, shaking up the status quo, and exploring the bold steps it’ll take to level the playing field for women and girls everywhere.
So, buckle up—it’s time to make the impossible... possible.

Her Spirit 50:50 What is Possible Podcast
Sky News sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao talks to Louise and Annie about life as a sports presenter at Sky News over the last 28 years, life with cancer and her recent second diagnosis and her approach to wellness
In the sixth episode of season three of the Her Spirit podcast BBC Breakfast Louise Minchin and BBC Triathlon presenter Annie Emmerson talk to sports presenter Jacquie Beltrao.
Jacquie is a sports presenter at Sky News and Olympian (1984). She is currently going through Breast Cancer again, having been diagnosed for the second time in June 2020. Jacquie is a mum of three, wife to Eduardo, sister, and loves her rescue dogs and yoga.
She joined Sky News in 1992, where she first worked as a publicist before later becoming a sports reporter and presenter. She now presents updates on weekends (Friday to Sunday ) during Sunrise and for the first hour of the following programme.
For more than six years, the popular Sky News sports presenter had lived disease-free after first being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. Jacquie, who has worked at Sky for 28 years, was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer on Christmas Eve 2013 and underwent chemotherapy, a mastectomy and reconstruction.
Doctors told her the chances of the cancer returning in the next five years were around three in 100 — odds she described as “pretty damn good”. But after she found a pea-sized lump just below her collarbone, in June 2020 her worst fears were confirmed. She was diagnosed with aggressive, stage four breast cancer.
Her approach to enhancing her wellness was to gave up dairy, changed her diet, and run three times a week, and loves yoga. Attending her annual check-up in January, she was told she was still cancer-free.
She talks openly to Annie and Louise about how she has approached her life with cancer, family life with Eduardo her three children and time in Rio and her "feisty" approach to life. Her love of yoga has helped her on her road to enhanced wellness as has getting back to running in the outdoors.
